QUESTIONS FROM HOST FAMILY TO AU PAIR | au pair application



Ostatnio dodałam pytania, które my możemy zadawać przy rozmowie do każdego członka host family klik TUTAJ. Dzisiaj role się odwrócą, a mianowicie przygotowałam dla Was pytania, na które lepiej być przygotowanym. Każda przyszła au pair moim zdaniem powinna odpowiedzieć sobie na te pytania przed rozmową z potencjalną host family. Zrobić notatki, mieć punkt odniesienia, whatever. 

Basic conditions of the au pair placement:
  • Why have you decided to become our au pair?
  • Have you ever been to our country before and if so, did you have the opportunity to learn more about our culture?
  • How long do you want to stay and when would you like to start?
  • What are your expectations concerning your stay as an au pair?
  • Are you willing to accompany us on our holiday and take care of our kids during this period of time?
  • Is your driving licence valid in our country?
  • Are you an experienced driver?
  • How often do you wish to travel home?
  • What are the things you wish to do and see in our country?
  • Would you help us with light housework?
  • Which kinds of meals could you prepare for our children?
  • Should you be a vegetarian, would you still be prepared to cook meat dishes for our children?
Childcare experience:
  • Do you like children and have you had any experience in childcare?
  • Can you tell us more about your experience caring for children ages size 8
  • Have you ever cared for children for 45 hours a week, or 8 hours a day?
  • How many children have you cared for alone at one time?
  • Would you be comfortable staying home with kids all day?
  • How old were the children you were taking care of?
  • Have you ever taken care of children for a longer period of time?
  • Have you worked as an au pair before?
  • Can you provide references for your childcare experience?
  • How do you feel about waking up early to help us get the children off to school?
  • Do you cook and how often? What kinds of things would you cook for the children’s dinner?
  • Our children have playmates coming over to our house regularly, would that bother you?
  • We want our children to learn another language, would you mind speaking to them in your
  • Would you want to participate in our family outings and vacations?
  • Are you flexible? If we run little late from work, do you mind?
  • How often do you help clean up your home now?
  • Are you a tidy and organized person?
Daily routine with children:
  • Can you help the children with their homework?
  • Imagine you are given two hours to play with the kids. How would you keep them occupied?
  • How would you handle situations in which the children disobeyed you?
Personal questions for the au pair:
  • What are your favourite foods?
  • Do you have any allergies?
  • What do you enjoy most about caring for?
  • Do you feel comfortable taking on responsibility in a childcare situation?
  • How would you describe yourself? What are your strengths and weaknesses?
  • What are your hobbies?
  • Is there anything important we need to know about you?
  • Do you smoke?
  • Do you wish to be fully integrated in our family's life or do you prefer to have more space and time for yourself?
  • Do your family and friends support your idea of becoming an au pair?
  • Do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend?
  • If yes, will they be supportive during your stay as an au pair?
  • Do you think you will both be able to cope with the situation of being separated for a longer period of time?
  • Would you like your family/friends/partner to visit you while you are at our home?
  • What type of family are you looking for?
  • What do you want to do after you finish your year as an au pair?
  • Do you have piercings or tatoos?
  • Do you have any medical (health) problems?
  • Can you tell me about your family? How do they feel about you coming to the United States for one year or two?
  • Would you be open to extending another year?
  • What would you hope to do during your year in the USA?
  • Do you have a car now, what kind is it? Have you ever driven an American automatic car ?
  • What about in the snow?
  • Would you be comfortable driving kids in the car with
  • Have you ever been in a car accident? (If yes, discuss it)
  • How were you disciplined as a child?
  • Do you have any first-aid training?
  • Would you rather be out with friends or at home on a typical weekday night, or typical weekend night?
  • What do you think will be the biggest challenge in regards to living with a foreign family?
  • Have you ever lived apart from your family and friends? If so, what was the hardest part for you?
  • What kinds of classes would you like to take this year?
  • How much time do you spend on the internet/computer?
  • How do you handle conflict with your parents?
  • How much sleep do you need to feel rested?
  • How do you plan to spend your time when you’re not working?
  • Do you know anyone in the US?
  • What is your best and worst memory of your family life?
If you have pets:
  • Do you like animals?
  • Are you prepared to take our dog for a walk/feed our cat, etc.?

If your au pair needs to enter your country on a visa:
  • Have you already applied for your visa? When could you arrive?

Tak samo jak pod poprzednim postem - podkreślam, moim zdaniem, ważniejsze rzeczy, na które się trzeba przygotować. 

Oczywiście są to przykładowe pytania, które mogą się pojawić, a nie muszą, są jedynie pomocą przy rozmowie, mam nadzieję, że ten post pomoże tym, którzy nie wiedzą jak się przygotować na pierwszą, albo każdą kolejną rozmowę, która odbywa się po angielsku.

  3. Na wielu forach i blogach au pair znajdziecie mnóstwo opinii, porad i przykładowych pytań jakie zadaje rodzina bądź au pair. Warto się z tymi opiniami zapoznać, ale najważniejsza rada dla przyszłych Au Pair to traktowanie każdej rozmowy z host family indywidualnie. Nikt za was nie zdecyduje która rodzina okaże się najlepsza i będzie dla Ciebie perfect match. Rozmowa z rodziną jest najczęściej włącznie rozmową, która czasem trwa kilkanaście minut a czasem 2 godziny i trudno się przygotować czy zaplanować jej przebieg wg jakiegoś schematu. Z naszego wieloletniego doświadczenia w Prowork z b. wieloma au pair wynika, że takie właśnie indywidualne podejście i zaangażowanie podczas rozmowy najlepiej się sprawdza w doborze perfect match i udanego pobytu Au Pair w USA. Warto jeszcze dodać przy okazji, że znajomość angielskiego wcale nie jest decydująca podczas waszych interview z rodzinami. Nie musisz znać płynnie angielskiego aby szybko znaleźć host family, gdyż poza komunikacją w j. angielskim liczy się Twoja osobowość, entuzjazm i motywacja do wyjazdu:-) Powodzenia w doborze perfect match:-) dla wszystkich przyszłych Au Pair w USA!
